For a scholar in nonviolence and Gandhi's life and teachings as I am it's quite a poor thing; one could read "Hind swaraj" Hind Swaraj Or Indian Home Rule and learn much more about Gandhi's views on nonviolence applied to economics.Nevertheless if I think to those managers or business people who have little if none interest in anything else than money, little time to read anything than balance sheets and statistics (apart from the FT or WSJ, or the Economist, of course!) I can see that maybe this book will be the best opportunity to introduce them to the thoughts of such a person that "generations to come will scarce believe that he walked on this Earth" (Albert Einstein).
Hence my praise for the author who had the creativity to conceive this book.

Gandhi CEO Alan Axelrod 9781402780295 Books Reviews
A great book. For lot of people especially from India, it has become a habbit of blaming Gandhi for nothing. Of course, he did some mistakes in the judgement during the Hindu-Muslim conflict. That doesn't mean he lacked inspiration. Gandhi is a PHENOMENAL leader and brilliantly worked with the complexities of Caste-based Indian societies and fought against the british who divided and conqured India. Gandhi was more brilliant creating public awareness that inspired great leaders such as Martin Luther King. Regarding the book, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to buy this one. It doesn't talk that much about his history but takes important events and beautifully narrates the conviction and clarity that a leader must learn.
I love Gandhi and what he did for India and the rest of us with his outstanding example and giving his life for what he believed.
Having said that (of course this has nothing to do with Gandhi) but the Author is stretching what Gandhi taught as if he was a CEO and having worked in Fortune 50 companies for over twenty years call me a cynic. If they had a chance of behaving this way we wouldn't be in the mess we are.
So as for the book, the stuff about Gandhi is nice and interesting and has merit for individuals but don't expect to have your CEO take a look. The book is set up in short essays taking Gandhi's teaching and trying to apply it to the running of businesses, which Gandhi wouldn't have had a thing to do with, but its at times interesting and at times boring.
For a scholar in nonviolence and Gandhi's life and teachings as I am it's quite a poor thing; one could read "Hind swaraj" Hind Swaraj Or Indian Home Rule and learn much more about Gandhi's views on nonviolence applied to economics.
Nevertheless if I think to those managers or business people who have little if none interest in anything else than money, little time to read anything than balance sheets and statistics (apart from the FT or WSJ, or the Economist, of course!)
