Original Book Summary Overview
People around the world can sense that things are changing fast, but it's difficult to put a finger on why. Friedman does the difficult work for you by looking through a half century of worldwide technological and geopolitical innovation in order to highlight the ways that things have changed beyond recognition--even in the last 10 years.
By explaining the exponential powers of Moore's Law for technology, the 'States of Destruction' that countries are descending into post-post-Cold War, and the devastation that environmental degradation and booming populations have caused to the natural world, Friedman points the finger at where things derailed in the modern world--and what we can do to get back on track.

Summary of Thank You for Being Late Includes Key Takeaways Analysis eBook FastReads Reviews

I have to say that I absolutely love summaries of great books. I have Thank You For Being Late but I love this summary to reference back to for quick information. I love that I don’t have to go through the whole original book to get the main reference points of it, as it’s all right here at my fingertips. Thomas Friedman did a wonderful job picking out the main points and conveying the ultimate message from the book in this super short fast read summary. Yes, I still reference the main book as well but this is really easy and convenient when I need a quick refresher on something quick. I recommend this book to anyone who has Thank you for being Late as a quick reference or even to anyone who is in the fence about purchasing the main book. I’m certain this summary with make you realize that you need this book in your life!
In life, I’ve sometimes observed it’s more efficient to be late than early, as less time is wasted. Especially so for activities that expand to fill whatever time has been assigned (business meetings, for instance). So I wondered if this book was about similar tweaks, but no, mostly not, and what this book presented was something else entirely

In large part, this work covers the notion of taking the time to assess matters and do things slowly where appropriate (the title comes from an anecdote where the author of the original book was glad that someone was late for a meeting, as it gave him time to better collect his thoughts).

For a text pertaining to a book about taking the time to do give things the attention they merit, this summary book has a lot of small errors. In most cases they aren’t a barrier to comprehension, but in a couple, I had to—perhaps appropriately enough—stop reading and figure out what had been intended. Manually made typos are easy to decipher; autocorrect errors can sometimes be a little cryptic.

I enjoy these sorts of summary books, as often a lot of these sorts of pop psychology / business books can turn out to be essays/articles that got padded out to make books (a classic example of this sort of book would be “I’m OK—You’re OK” by Thomas Harris (no, the other Thomas Harris), which really only needed to be a single page but we got the whole book instead.

In this case, I did feel that some of the chapters left me wondering what the original chapter had been about, as neologous terms are left undefined and unexplained in this summary. This may be a deliberate style choice to encourage the reader to buy the original book, of course, and if that’s the case, then it may have done its job well. As for me, I’d at least flick through the original if I were to notice it in a physical bookstore.
Fastreads summarizes another best-seller to bring us truths with the few minutes only some of us have to read. It is written in third person, because it is just a summary of what the author wrote in the original book. This summary makes me want to go out and get the original book.

Summary of Thank You for Being Late by Thomas Friedman is a reflexive fiction when the author had to appreciate the blessings he had while waiting for an appointment, or stopped by a stranger. Though there are some who believe computers will replace humans, Friedman insists that for the most part computers assist humans in their work far more than will replace those same workers. But we must realize the advantages that come with advance technology will also come with disadvantages. An example of this would be the strain that is put on our nature resources. We are to emulate Mother Nature by the models she has set up for us.
The best thing is that each chapter has a key takeaway at the end. The summary mentions what Friedman intended to tell the reader in his book in a very concise manner.
Let me start by saying that I loved the actual book "Thank You for Being Late" by Thomas Friedman. I attended one of his speaking engagements at a conference in 2012 that formed much of the basis of the book. I thought I would buy this summary for a chapter by chapter outline of the major focus points (there were quite a few and it was a pain to have to go leafing through the book to find my notes). I thought "hey, it's only $6.99, it has to be worth that...." Trust me, it's not. It is absolutely worthless, and reads as if a 9th grader wrote it. And if a 9th grader DID write it for other 9th graders - say, to use as cliff notes - for a class - then everyone who bought it would have failed their tests! I have never been as disappointed in a purchase from as I was for this "book." I could have bought a donut and a cup of coffee for less than the price of the this "book", and it would have been a better value. Snake oil anyone???

By the way, it allegedly is 27 pages long, but it actually has only about 14 pages of actual material that is not an introduction, a table of contents, or just blank pages. The last page just says "END" and encourages you to write a favorable review on . I imagine there is probably a good summary of Friedman's book out there somewhere, but this is definitely not it.
